The rumors are flying! Will Phish play a “baker’s dozen” residency of shows at Madison Square Garden this summer? Everyone is talking about it – hell, even the ushers at Madison Square Garden are talking about it, via @Phishatmsg, and published at Relix.com and LiveForLiveMusic.com
Of course, Madison Square Garden ushers are sworn to tell the truth and only the truth!
But this isn’t the first time we’ve heard this. The idea of a 13-show residency has been floated across PhantasyTour.com for a while. Even just last week, Relix.com published an article referencing a 2007 Relix cover story with Page McConnell in which he floats the idea himself!
“The band considered doing one tour to just play the seven U.S. states they’d never played. Another idea had them playing a “baker’s dozen’ of shows – 13 nights in Madison Square Garden, say, or, adding another layer of classic Phish humor to it all, the Providence Civic Center, rebranded by corporate interests as the Dunkin Donuts Center.” – Page McConnell, 2007
And PhishRumors.com posted the rumor in September. Though, they also posted a rumor about a Phish Spring 2017 European Tour, which seems extremely unlikely, regardless of any truth to the Fishman rotator cuff surgery rumors.
But now it seems that the Baker’s Dozen rumor may be true!
Not a week after this last incredible NYE run at Madison Square Garden, one of our sources, a trusted source close to the band, has confirmed the MSG Residency!
